Isaiah 55:10-11 New International Version 10 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:10-11 NIV

10 As the rain and the snow
    come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
    without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Even though this verse is from the Book of Isaiah, it makes me think of the prophet Jonah. God gave him a mission, and he ran away. No matter how hard he tried NOT to do what God asked him to do, in the end, God’s desire was accomplished. Why do we go kicking and fighting when God is very clear on what He is asking us to do? Or, why do we sit idle when God asks us to go? We can be a squeaky wheel or a finely tuned motor, but either way God will accomplish what He sets out to do no matter what. Are you a willing participant in God’s desires?
