Isaiah 43:2 GNT
When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you.
A WWII veteran I once knew, told a story about training for an amphibious landing that would eventually be used during D-Day. Even though he was training, he was extremely nervous, because of his secret. He couldn’t swim. The landing craft slid to a stop, and the other troops began to jump. Blinded with fear, he did too. In the water, he was flailing and splashing in a panic, desperately trying to remember anything about swimming. Then, he heard a chorus of voices laughing, “Mac! Mac! Put your feet down!” He paused, put his feet down, and stood up in the three feet of water in which they had landed. Life can be a lot like that! We feel anxious or worried and allow that to become our focus. We are prone to panic, but when we put our feet down on the solid foundation of God, we may be surrounded, but we are not overwhelmed.
