The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
As I walked along the beach, I saw this rock formation covered with barnacles, limpets, and clams. I thought it looked more like a shaggy old buffalo than an ocean rock! It reminds me that in life, sometimes things aren’t exactly what they seem. A lady was stopped at a stoplight and looked out her window. She saw a big inked-up scary dude enter the crosswalk. While she was pushing down her door lock, a clean-cut fashionably posh young man jumped into her car from the other side and carjacked her car. Jesus spent time with people that society deemed unsavory, unclean, unworthy. He took a lot of heat for that, but He knew God judges the inside – the heart – instead of our outward appearance. Can we?
